After raising General David Petraeus to the level of demigod, the
minions of the Free Republic website, usually so very meticulous in
documenting and commenting on each and every news story that impacts and
comments on life in America in general, and America's involvement in
Iraq in particular, have conveniently overlooked this one single comment
by the new commanding general of coalition forces in Iraq:
"There is no military solution to a problem like that in Iraq. Military
action is necessary to help improve security... but it is not sufficient."
General Petraeus then goes on to say that the only road to success in
Iraq is, and I paraphrase, to negotiate with militant groups causing
violence in the country.
When you boil it all down, General David Petraeus, the Greek hero
brought in by the Bush administration to defeat the evil Persians and
the evil al Qaeda, is advocating negotiations with terrorists. |
